Chapter Four: Depths of Desire
Celia and Danielle spent the entire day out on the water. While Harry and Andre were fuming, the girls were enjoying themselves out on the warm, dark water. They sat on their surfboards and paddled out deep into the ocean, making sure they were far away from the prying eyes of the others.
Andre and Harry would never start drama, which meant Danielle and Celia would be able to continue staying at the house without issue. The waves were a bit more chaotic than normal, and they moved their surfboards, dark waves engulfing their legs and arms.
âItâs so wonderful out here. Too bad the waves arenât high enough.â
âAinât that the truth,â Danielle said. âI wish we could surf. But it is kind of nice being out here just the two of us.
The beach had cleared out for the most part, their friends deciding to retire to the house for drinks and food. It was getting chilly as the sun went down, even though the water was warm.
âMaybe we should go inside,â Danielle said. âMy calves are getting a little bit sore from being out here.â
âI can make them feel better,â Celia offered. She let one of her hands trail towards Danielleâs, rubbing her softly on the crook of her arm.
âSomeone might see,â Danielle said.
âSo?â
Danielle laughed. âGood point. I guess it doesnât matter anymore. And to be honest, Iâve been thinking about breaking up with Harry for a while now myself.â
âWhy?â Celia asked.
Danielle bit her lower lip, not wanting to admit the truth sheâd been so adamantly hiding. Sheâd wanted to break it off with Harry because she wasnât attracted to him anymore. Sheâd had feelings for Celia for so long that it had turned her strange and sour, especially when it came to her relationship. She and Harry had even stopped having sex, though she hadnât told Celia about that.
âItâs not important,â Danielle said after a while. âLetâs paddle back to the house. I want to get my drink on.â
Celia smiled. âOkay then,â she said, shifting so she was on her stomach. They paddled back to the sand, their arms and legs covered in thick muscle from training for surfing and working out at the gym. Celia loved the way Danielle got nervous around her. She was almost certain that Danielle was going to admit to having feelings for her back there out on the waves, but in a classic Danielle move, she silenced herself.
It felt good to place her feet on solid ground again. The waves were nice, but Black Cove was notorious for the sting rays and sharks that occasionally swam a little too close to the shore. Danielle and Celia lifted their surfboards above their heads and walked towards the front steps, ignoring everyone who gave them strange looks. Word might have gotten out about them getting a little too close, but there would only be idle gossip and nothing more.
Back inside, there were guests scattered on couches and hanging about on countertops. Girls
